Staycations: They aren't that cool
I unintentionally had the last FIVE days off of work. Well, I had to call in 2 sick days, but that's water under the bridge now . . .
Day 1: I was supposed to go to a family lunch but was too sick to join. But I was feeling better (enough) to go to a local car cruise that night. It. Was. AWESOME.
Day 2: I did absolutely nothing. I felt lazy AF and most definitely left a solid dent in my bed. I did however watch endless episodes of Smallville. Again, lazy AF.
Day 3: I decided to create this blog to at least feel somewhat productive, duh, all the while filming a YouTube video, which I then edited and posted. It took all frickin day. That night I decided to get out of the house and mosey down the street to my boyfriends house and we got smoothies.
Day 4: The most fun day of my summer so far. I went outside to tan, decided to call a friend to ask if she wanted to go to the beach, and she was having a pool day! I went over there, swam for hours and sure got a nice lil sunburn to show for it. We made a Walmart trip, got ice cream, and I dyed her hair before leaving.
Day 5, final day: My boyfriend picked me up to go out to breakfast. We did a whole lot of nothing. Then he decided to put some rock lights on his truck, which did in fact take hours, but after some yelling and cussing and 100 "I'm giving up"'s, the task has been completed.
Now as I sit here writing this when I should be going to bed for work tomorrow, I realize that maybe staycations aren't all that. All I have is a messed up sleep schedule, a couple hundred dollars less, and really weak legs. Remember that before you decide to go and get sick, or whatever.

Physical art is dying
Something I think people have lost is the art of physical crafting. Journaling, painting, drawing, scrapbooking, printing pictures at CVS, keeping a physical calendar and a notebook for creating lists. See for me, I get my kicks and giggles from obtaining new pens and paper. It feels like Christmas every time. I love it. I love that I can hold it in my hands.
One thing that I always keep in mind is "will my kids love to look back through my things and read my writings and see my framed pictures like I do with my parents belongings? " I want to be able to explain stories to them and let them know more about who I was before being their mom. I don't want to hand them a phone and tell them to scroll. That is not how memories are saved, let alone how heirlooms are created.
AI will be the death of art. I HATE it. Strongly. I have never once used it because I am stubborn and I refuse.
Let's time travel to the 2000's
If you're here, chances are you want to experience girlhood in a way gen z will never be able to. It will always be an un-scratched itch in our minds. We try and try to romanticize a time period we were barely alive for and now that we can determine our own lives, it's completely slipped except for in our souls. And what is that, you may ask?
Living the life of being a girl in the early 2000's.
We all want it. But why is it so unattainable? I know. Big hint . . . TECHNOLOGY! It is the slow killer of all things fun and colorful and creative. When we should be reading a Tiger Beat magazine and listening to the F.M. while painting our toes pink, we are stuck doomscrolling. It's the ultimate stealer of personality. Because what is with all of the "6-7" and "Skibidi alpha rizz" BS garbage?
Okay okay, anyways, let me introduce myself. Hi, I'm Kaylie. I'm 19 in 2026 wishing it was 2006. Yes I too am a victim to watching endless TikTok videos but trust me, if it were up to me, I would be on the couch watching the new episodes of Gossip Girl on Friday nights. I romanticize that life as much as the next girl and the girl after that. With my little rant over, that is why I decided a blog may be a good idea for me. It is something that makes me feel like maybe I have a way to transport myself.
Now, if you can relate, this may be the blog for you. If you're a guy, ew bug off.
Welcome to my little world,, you are now along for the ride. XOXO.
